Sitting in Berlin eating a Kabob

Berlin Street food

Here is our first portion of the trip where translation is more of a challenge. We got to our Airbnb and I had to point and mime that I needed the key from the local business. Luckily they were expecting me, otherwise I would likely be in a German prison right now.

The kabob place didn’t speak a lot of English either. Still more English than I speak German, so good on them. But I just asked them to give us what is great. It was great.

Then we went to a little German bakery and store. We bought some yummy smelling bread called doppelbrötchen, which our gaming friends will not be surprised to learn is two twin breads stuck together. Did we buy it for this reason? Probably, but who can blame us?

This single glass of wine isn’t sad and lonely, it’s just that a bottle of Coca-Cola ruins my photo aesthetic.

Then we picked up random beer, cheese, salami and a bottle of wine. And the whole thing came to almost nothing, at least not when you compare the equivalent items with US prices. And let’s talk about the wine! First off most bottles are under $10. They are drowning in great wine over here. I found a Gran Reserva for the staggering price of $16 and it’s amazing!

Not all the food is good.

One last thing. This package of hot dogs! Are we supposed to microwave these? So gross.
