Habsberg Palace

Before WW1 these rich dudes had all the money and all the people. Some stuff happened and now they don’t, but their lavish palace remains and we visited it.

Turns out David looked like this dude

They wouldn’t let us take photos inside, but luckily I got this photo of David with his look alike before they told us no pictures.

That structure looks a long way away from down here.
We hiked up to this area which provides stunning views of the city.

We made it up the hill! Our waiter at dinner the previous night told us the views were great.

You can pretty much see all of Vienna from up here.

The best story was probably about the emperor and how much he loved his wife, who was often away traveling. They said it was unclear if she returned the affection. Then quoted her as saying how she had basically been sold as a child into a life she didn’t understand to a man she didn’t love for 30 years of marriage she didn’t want…. mystery solved.

Looking back at the palace
Cool tunnel thing in the garden.

This happy family dynamic produced the daughter Marie Antoinette, later beheaded in France. Of ‘Let them eat cake’ fame.

This alcove needed a statue, so we both did our best to provide.
