We are staying our first couple nights at a 200 year old converted farmhouse called House of History.

Our room is in the loft above what was the barn. It has beautiful exposed beams, that you will hit your head on if you are not careful. David is at 3 whacks and counting.

The roof is thatched reed harvestedfrom the nearbylake Balaton. Smoking is not at all allowed and carries a heafty fine. Can’t imagine why!

Breakfast is included and served in the common area, which I suspect was the original house. The breakfast was fantastic with too many good things to eat.

We had wine by the pool in the afternoon.

For dinner we walked up the hill to a place with a fantastic view and dined while watching the sunset over the lake. Dinner started with bread, hard meats, and cheese and then we enjoyed shredded wild boar in pasta. The whole meal was very good.

Lake Balaton is the largest lake in Hungary. It has a glacial blue hue to it, and it a popular destination for families and couples in the summer.
