Umbrella art

One afternoon in Bratislava is all we could fit in, but it was great.

Pondering the fountain

Strolling down tree lined pedestrian streets.

This statue is coming out of a manhole. He has been run over.

Playful statues peaking out here and there.

Public square

Fountains is public squares.

Potato and cheese filled dumpling served with sour cream and crispy bacon.

And we tried as much tradition food as possible. Very goat cheese focused society, my people.

Fried smoked cheese, this was so good.

Wine is cheaper than water I think.

David left me alone for a few minutes, so I ordered a glass of wine.

They have their version of a very rich macaroni and cheese, but it’s fresh pasta or maybe potato.

Basically a mac and cheese with crispy bacon, but I think it might have been a potato pasta.

Servers were extremely friendly and spoke English.

A potato salad, slightly vinegar flavor

The dessert looked a lot like a cream puff, but was so much better than any cream puff I’ve ever had before. Usually the cream is very fatty and not very sweet, this was more of a mouse. And the puff had a crisp outer edge. Yummy

A mousse filled cream puff with raspberry. This was so good.

It was a warm evening and they had misters out in a lot of areas to cool us off.

An old church in a public square.
Close up on the church shows a cannonball lodged in the wall to the left of the window from the Napoleon times.
Holocaust memorial with the Christian church in the background.

A large holocaust memorial now sits where the synagogue once stood. Destroyed during Nazi occupation in WW2.

Where the synagogue used to stand

We stumbled upon the presidential palace as the President was leaving to go somewhere. A huge crowd had gathered and they were cheering and generally happy to see her.
