Dinner last night. Traditional sushi in a neighborhood outside the tourist areas. We sat on cushions at a low table, criss-cross applesauce. The sushi chef spoke no English, his wife, our server, spoke only a couple words in English. We were the only people in the restaurant at that time. Payment was cash only. The food was amazing. The miso soup had tiny clams in it. I made a little happy gasp when I saw them in there, which the owners got a kick out of.

As we were eating a storm kicked up outside with high winds, thunder and lightning. The rain started coming down in big fat drops, just as we reached our train station and we ducked inside.

There was a bar adjacent to the chef’s station and only 2 traditional tables in the whole place.

After we got back to the hotel we sat at the bar and watched the storm out the big windows before going up to our rooms for bed.
